The on going flood situation in Thailand finally reached Bangkok toward the end of October. It has caused many families to move and spread around Thailand to find a warm and dry place. My mom and I also did so by going to Phuket, her home town. Unfortunately my dad couldn't come because he needs to take care of the business in Bangkok. Luckily, my house and my family business was not affected by the flood because we live in the inner part of the city. After returning to Phuket I also have a chance to go to a business trip with my dad to Singapore and learn more about my father's business. The trip has motivates me into learning by myself not just by using the internet but by reading as well.
The disaster in Thailand may lead to more than a year long of renovation in many industry estates and highly damaged areas like the areas around the airport. Other than that, the country may have to challenge itself against a food shortage from rice and other crops. Some fruits will also take at least 5 years to grow back and will have to be imported from other countries with a highly charged price due to the limited supply. People who are affected by the flood will need time to fix their houses and their companies. There will also be a decrease on number of tourists because the flood might increase the possibilities of tourists getting diseases. Thailand might also have a problem with clean water for a short term because they need time to get the flood water out of the filtration system.
As a member of this community, I feel that we must help other people that are in need of our service even though we're still young. I believe that Thailand needs to help each other to get through this problem in order for the economy in Thailand to start growing again. We can help by donating money to help flood victims. I think that we should keep in mind that every little bit counts and that we need to help each other as much as possible to form a strong community. The best way that RIS students like us can help is to donate money to help them. We can start a campaign for RIS students to donate money so that we can send it to people in need, such as people in the province of Ayutaya. In order for us to pass this test of nature we must stand united and strong with a kind heart and helping spirits.
